Sankt Birgitta School gets fantastic “steel barracks”
Many public and private Danish schools have chosen the “barracks solution” in order to deal with rising student numbers and limited space. And many pupils from the past will almost certainly remember various versions of cold, brown, wooden barracks with terrible acoustics and poor indoor climates.
This private school in Maribo, has gone all in to expand and has “relaunched” the school barracks in a completely new form. An ultra-modern and attractive extension, with roof and façade clad in DS Nordic Click Seam has created a very appealing school building.
Sankt Birgitta School is a private Catholic school located in Maribo. It was built by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1916. The school was originally established for the children of Polish agricultural labourers. Today the school has 50 employees and 480 pupils, of which only 5% are catholic.
