Residential facility with a special focus on sustainability featuring steel profile roofs
It appears idyllic, as it stands there, the elegant wooden house surrounded by deciduous trees with direct access from the residences to the outdoor areas. The house also serves a purpose with a thoughtful concept; Botilbuddet Søndersø is built for young people in Værløse who need a helping hand to navigate daily life but with the aim that they should eventually be able to stand on their own.
The construction of Botilbuddet Søndersø is part of a research project on fire-resistant wooden houses, and simultaneously, there is an extra emphasis on climate and sustainability in construction, including support for special climate initiatives. Juul & Hansen Arkitekter have designed the building, setting high standards for how a sustainable construction project can be made.
Particularly, the utility technology and materials have been given a sustainable focus, extending from indoor paint to wall insulation and solar cells on the roof. As roofing material, DS Nordic Click Seam in GreenCoat® steel from SSAB has been utilized, which is the most sustainable pre-painted steel cladding on the market.
Sustainable focus triggers DGNB certification
Steel on the roof and the comprehensive work on sustainable solutions have paid off. The building for Botilbuddet Søndersø has indeed achieved a DGNB certification in Gold, confirming the success in making environmentally friendly choices during the construction of the building. The DGNB certification is based on the UN's understanding of sustainability, requiring consideration of social, economic, and environmental sustainability in the construction process.
Steel profiles on the roof made from Swedish rapeseed oil
DS Nordic Click Seam strengthens Botilbuddet Søndersø at its peak, protecting the house from wind and weather. However, the steel profiles are also part of the sustainable focus, and by choosing steel profiles in GreenCoat® steel, there is a strong consideration for both durability and environmental concerns. GreenCoat® steel from SSAB is manufactured using patented technology, where biobased Swedish rapeseed oil is used instead of fossil oil.
