Steel roof "protects" individuals in need of a helping hand in their daily lives

Many people take freedom for granted. However, if you are born with a disability, you may lose a part of that freedom if you don't receive the right assistance in your daily life. Die Mürwiker in northern Germany have, therefore, constructed a home for individuals with disabilities who require support in various ways in their daily lives.

The residential facility by Die Mürwiker is located on Feldstraße in Handewitt and is the only one of its kind in the area. It is a home where residents are tenants themselves, but support is available to them around the clock, including at night if needed. This provides them with a much greater degree of freedom because they can decide for themselves about their daily lives while still receiving support and assistance.

The residential facility was built in 2022 and includes 26 apartments spread across four separate buildings and a communal house, where there is also space for social activities. The buildings are both modern and inviting, designed with a single-pitched roof clad with DS Nordic Click Seam 475 in anthracite gray. The steel roof contributes to "taking good care of the residents" – it is, among other things, approved for wind speeds up to hurricane force.
