Historic forest gets a water lily neighbor clad with steel profiles
When the new residents of Åkandehaven at Langedam 1 in Græsted step out the front door, they may feel the historical vibes as the morning breeze passes by. They are, in fact, neighbors to the over 200-year-old historic forest, Græsted Aggebo Hegn, characterized by a hilly landscape shaped by moraine clay and glaciers from the last ice age. Moreover, the area also bears the marks of human life dating back to antiquity, with both Bronze Age mounds and cairns – a kind of burial mound consisting of both larger and smaller stones.
However, Åkandehaven's residents step out of the Bronze Age and into the modern steel age, as the new homes at Langedam 1 are clad with steel profiles. The architectural firm Sino ApS designed the 30 new homes that have now been built in Græsted. For the construction, DS Nordic Click Seam 475 in a beautiful anthracite gray has been used as façade cladding. The vertical lines created with DS Nordic Click Seam, along with the dark color, provide a striking contrast to the horizontal lines of the bricks and the classic red color.
DS Nordic Click Seam is steel with consideration for the environment
With a historic forest as a neighbor, it's hard not to think about the environment when building something new. DS Nordic Click Seam, made of GreenCoat® steel from SSAB, is the most sustainable pre-painted steel cladding on the market. In its production, a patented technology and Swedish rapeseed oil have been used, resulting in a completely unique, bio-based surface.
At DS Stålprofil, we are also Cradle to Cradle® Certified Bronze. This means that we focus on green transformation and work with the entire life cycle of our products. This is evident, among other things, in the fact that our products have maximum lifespan and optimal protection – benefiting the environment and the daily users.
